Thanks for all your continued prayers for Pastor and Mrs. Betzer. Literally thousands of people all over the world have been praying, and our prayers are felt by them and, most importantly, are working! He continues to improve daily and his therapists are bragging on his progress. He’s working hard and said “tell the people I miss them and I am ready to get back!” He will begin stepping down from this level of 24-hour care soon. Pray for this to be a smooth transition and for good rest, continued strength, and total and swift regaining of equilibrium/balance. He is very thankful for the faithfulness of God and our wonderful church family during this time. He commented today, “they’re the best people in the world!” The feeling is certainly mutual. We love our pastor!
Thank you so much for your continued prayers for Pastor Betzer. His recovery from the stroke is going well and he has made a great deal of progress in physical therapy this past week. The major challenge that he has faced is standing and walking due to the effects of the stroke, but he has begun to walk with assistance and is doing well. Please continue to pray for his complete recovery. Also, please continue to pray for Darlene Betzer, who is facing serious physical problems as well. She is with Pastor Betzer each day, but has a tremendous amount of pain and is having tests to determine the source of the problems. They have received many cards and appreciate each one!
Great is THY faithfulness, oh God, our Father! Day by day new mercies we see. All we have needed Thy hand is providing. . . ! Great is Thy faithfulness, Lord unto Thee.
Bless the Lord, oh my soul and all that is within me Bless His holy name. He is doing great things. He has done great things. Oh how wonderful to know God will do great things. . .Bless His holy name. Oh my soul, bless the Lord and all that is within me, Bless His Holy Name.
Daily we see progress in the healing hand of Jesus at work to mend and heal our bodies, minds. souls and spirits through His Presence! Each day, God's hand is upon all our livesl We are His people and the sheep of His pasture.
You may want to watch the service from this past weekend, just as Pastor Dan and I did in while in his hospital rehab room (Go to our church web site: www.famfm.org and you will find the service from this past weekend services at First Assembly of God, Fort Myers, FL.) Reggie Dabbs brought the powerful message of the day from the Lord's heart to ours. Holy Spirit ministry takes place in powerful ways as we respond to His presence. With the glorious victory of the weekend services with our precious First A/G family gathered in one place -- before His Throne in praise and thanksgiving -- we saw and felt the mighty hand of God at work to to release His Presence in a powerful way, ministering blessings to people watching from all over the world via live streaming as well as those attending services the House of the Lord, all of us gathering to offer praise and worship, our daily offerings, as well as daily presenting our bodies as living sacrifices to God. We felt His presence among us and we discovered God's response to our daily sacrifice of living as living sacrifices, wholly acceptable unto God, our reasonable service.
Some were watching on the link www.famfm.org. We were one in Spirit as we arranged our lives together to pay attention to the Lord and enter into His Presence of God was with us. . . those who were gathered in one place and those of us who were present in our participation, being God's anointed and appointed messengers of the Gospel at work in the global harvest. How precious is our Savior and Lord as Holy Spirit is always at work to give us power to carry out our witness as Spirit-Baptized believers! Oh my, how blessed we are. The daily opportunities to minister to people who serve so beautifully in health care ministries are all around us. Did you know that our healthcare facilities are full of Christ-exalting believers who work daily to care for the needs of our regional population? We are discovering so many professionals who care so beautifully for people from all over in our SW Regional health care facilities! What a team of people! We pray for them each day. God is making Himself known as we daily call upon Him using the mighty name of Jesus. He is hearing and responding in very specific ways. What a glorious name is the name of Jesus, our Savior and Lord. Jesus heals today as He has been through the ages. We read stories of Jesus in the Bible in the Gospels: Matthew, Mark, Luke and John. And we hear testimonies of healings each day of His ministry today through I love the passage in Hebrews 13:8: Jesus Christ, the same, yesterday, today and forever.
Thank you all for your kindness to demonstrate your compassion and love as well as your willingness to be such a caring community in every offer of kind assistance to us in our time of need. Please understand our inability to individually respond to all the thoughtful greetings in your cards and letters you are sending to Pastor Dan and Darlene Beem Betzer and our family. We are grateful and pray for God's favor and blessings to rest upon you and your loved ones.
With deepest gratitude and loving appreciation, Pastor Dan Betzer and Darlene Betzer and family
PS. Please don't yell at me for the hour. I fell asleep, woke and discovered this needed posting! So thankful for rest each night. So very glad you are praying with and for Dan. We are trusting God's Word. . . By His stripes we are healed!
I understand that Pastor Betzer has left the hospital and is being transported to Lee Health Rehabilitation Center, which is attached to Lee Memorial Hospital. The insurance concerns were resolved and we are thankful that Pastor Betzer is now able to begin a more intense portion in his recuperation process. He will be receiving three hours of therapy per day. At this time, we do request no visitors. If possible, I will send another update tomorrow. Please continue to pray for our Pastor!
I am happy to report that Pastor is no longer having issues with hiccups! Our prayers have been answered and he is very relieved! Thank you for your continued prayers. Our Pastor is improving daily and is undergoing therapy while in the hospital. We are hopeful that he will be transferred to a rehab facility very soon. Please pray that this will happen, even today!
I am thrilled to report that Pastor Betzer continues to improve. He is waiting on approval from the insurance company before being transferred to rehab, which he is anxious to begin. Please pray for his continual hiccupping, as it is very bothersome. It is a side effect of the stroke. He is in good spirits and is thankful for all your prayers. Please continue, as they are working!!!
Thank you so much for your continued prayers for our Pastor. He, Darlene, and the family have expressed their appreciation many times. The doctors feel that Pastor needs to remain in the hospital one more night before being transferred to a rehab facility for physical therapy. He has had some difficulty sleeping at night, so it would be wonderful if we all prayed for a good night of sleep for him tonight. He is expected to remain in rehab for at least two weeks. Please pray that he will continue to progress and gain his mobility, which is one of his biggest challenges. Thanks again for your questions and concern. Updates will continue as soon as I have new information for you.
As announced in the weekend services by Pastor David Thomas, Pastor Dan Betzer suffered a stroke this past Wednesday afternoon. He remains in the hospital. The doctors feel that his prognosis is excellent and he will make a full recovery. His recovery period will be several weeks. The doctors have ordered complete rest and the family requests no visitors, please. Thank you for the many encouraging comments and expressions of love for Pastor and Darlene. Updates will be posted regularly.
We were thrilled to be surprised in all three services by a visit from Pastor Dan Betzer this weekend - only 26 days since open-heart surgery. You're looking great, Pastor, and we've missed you so much. He announced that, Lord willing, he plans to be back in the pulpit on Wednesday, August 22! To God be the glory!
Darlene reported this afternoon that Pastor Betzer had his first physical therapy session this afternoon and it went very well. He is tired, but they are feeling good about his progress. Overall, he is feeling much better!
It's wonderful knowing Pastor Dan is recovering under the watchful care of our Great Shepherd of God's Sheep, Jesus Christ, our Healer and Original Designer of these human bodies. How much confidence it brings me as Dan's caregiver to know I am blessed with a husband who belongs to the Lord and gives God opportunity to restore him to wholeness thru this season of creating a new heart.
The suffering moments have given me a new examination of my urgency to understand the sufferings of Jesus as He bore in His body the sins, sicknesses, infirmities and diseases of humanity that we may be healed. To think Jesus drank that bitter cup at the Garden of Gethsemane, that cup full of all our iniquities and violations of God's design for humans to live in harmony with Him. . . what an anguish Jesus bore for our freedom from the guilt and shame of our defiance against God.
And then, to realize Jesus bore all the sicknesses, pain and diseases in his own body. . . Oh my, what inhuman suffering He took upon Himself that we may be made whole. Our healing Jesus speaks life into our beings in order that we may demonstrate His amazing grace and mercy and kindness in the midst of our daily living as He designs our lives to glorify Him above all.
Dan has one need greater than any. . . a history of not sleeping well at night. Will you simply pray for this with us? He did pray two nights ago, "Lord, we are able to allow you to teach us new ways in our older days, so we ask you to do this. I need Your help to sleep." Pastor Dan is a trooper in these days of restoration to a new heart functionality through the bypass of three of his arteries. How amazing is that!! Successful surgery and all that care which seemed to be relentless day and night. What a treat to have the privilege of health care by the hands of those who do their work on us as we need them! God bless them all around the world. Yet the knowledge God has of our bodies is that of the original designer and Creator. So, we ultimately look to His intervention as it is essential to our complete wholeness.
Thank you for your participation in Dan's recovery by all your flowers, fruit baskets, cards and letters, phone calls, and even those pre-surgery visits by pastors and family and friends. Thank you for allowing peaceful and restful rest and recovery. We are thanking the Lord for added strength each day. We have home health coming and next week he begins Rehab Therapy.
The strength of the Lord is being restored to Dan's body for the work of the ministry which God enables. We feel your prayers and love you all and know God is using you in the healing process. May your every need be met through our Lord Jesus Christ. He is our all-sufficient Lord. Blessings on you in His mighty name
Pastor is doing better each day. We see God’s hand to help as we call on Him. Thank you for every prayer and card and text and bouquet of flowers and fruits — all the get well wishes and phone calls.
I just spoke with Pastor Betzer and he sounds like he is making good progress. His voice is gaining strength and he indicated he is working on the exercises that are necessary after this type surgery. He enjoyed viewing the service last night and was very complimentary of Dr. Joe’s teaching. (It was incredible) Thank you for your continued prayers for our Pastor! Don’t forget to pray for Darlene as she takes care of her husband!
What a wonderful place to be experiencing the healing power of Jesus. . . We are at home after the surgery which is restoring Dan's heart. So many have contributed so much to Dan's heart surgery. . . all the pre and post operational staff were part of the successful surgery. We always trusted God for every good thing He offers to those who trust on Him. He is our healing Jesus. Pastor Dan is recovering at home and he will be eager to personally thank everyone for their prayers for healing and wholeness. There are too many people to thank, so please receive God's favor and blessings for your loving kindnesses!
This song "What a Healing Jesus!" is a favorite! And the old song, "Where the Healing Waters Flow" comes to mind. There is in Jesus all the attributes of God's wholeness for our lives. Dan has been delighted to be home. . . no better place to recover in peace and restful "joy" in pushing through the pain and becoming ambulatory as walking restores mobility.
How beautifully God's provision has been lavishly offered. Please rest assured that we are entering into a new level in Christ's assurance of salvation in His saving Life during those critical moments of endurance being tested while receiving God's fullness just as you need Him.
Everything changes when you are aware of Christ's intentional presence through every moment of His faithfulness! The greater the challenge, the more awareness of His greatness!! We thank you for all your prayers and the blessings of God's goodness and the wonder of the kindness of God's people and friends of First Assembly from everywhere. You are dearly loved and appreciated.
~dlb for Pastor Dan, too.
I just received a very happy call from Pastor Betzer. He is home! He sounds much stronger than last week and is thankful to be out of the hospital. When he is able to receive visits, we will let you know. For now, he still needs rest and needs to adjust to being at home. He watched both services yesterday morning and was complimentary of Pastor Ford’s ministry. Keep praying for him and Darlene! It is working! Praise the Lord!
Pastor had his best night of sleep last night. As he is ready, we will be heading home soon. Learning to live healthy will be our goal. We do thank you for all the cards and messages and offers to assist in any way while you pray.
Pastor continues to improve. He took a short walk in the hall today, and he has spent some time in a chair near his window. He is still weak, but he is making good progress. The family has requested no visitors, please, in order to allow Pastor to rest as much as possible. Pastor and Darlene send their love; they are very grateful for all the cards, notes and flowers they have received, and especially for all your prayers.
Pastor has been moved to a regular room and is settled in and doing fine. We would still prefer no visitors until he is a little stronger. Your prayers are much appreciated!
We spoke with Darlene this morning, and she told us that Pastor had a good night. His recovery is progressing well. He will possibly be moved out of ICU today. Thank you for your prayers!
Pastor has had a good day. He is still in ICU, but he sat up for a short time, and he had his first therapy session. His recovery is progressing well. Praise God for His faithfulness!
Pastor is recovering in stable condition in ICU today. Only immediate family will be allowed to visit. Later today they will perhaps get him up and in the chair. They want him to rest. Today is a new day of opportunity to see this amazing staff work with the healing virtues of our Lord’s design for our bodies to be healthy!!! Thank you for your prayers!
Pastor Betzer is out of surgery, and the doctor was very pleased. The bypass they had to do was not as extensive as anticipated, and for that we are grateful. He assured the family that Pastor did well through the procedure, and they anticipate no problems at all with his recuperation. Darlene is doing well, and is very thankful for all your prayers. Please continue to pray for a smooth recovery.
Daddy came through the surgery with flying colors! Only needed triple bypass! Surgery was done an hour early! Woo hoo!(P.S. don’t tell me there is no God and don’t tell me He doesn’t answer prayers!)
David Betzer just texted to let us know that Pastor has just been taken back to the Operating Room. When they came to get him, they asked, “Do you know why you are here today?” Pastor answered, “I’m going to have a baby!”
It’s obvious our pastor is in good spirits! Please be praying. We are heading for the hospital and will update you as information becomes available.
Pastor Betzer's surgery has been changed to 1:30 or 2:00 PM, Tuesday, July 17. We will keep you updated if this changes.
Dad's surgery is scheduled for tomorrow. They will take him and prep him an hour or so before the surgery. It will last at least four hours. There will be four physicians working on him. Thank you for the literally thousands of messages to various members and family and to the church. We know we have people praying all over the world for my daddy! We cannot thank you enough! God is so good!
Pastor slept well through the night. All of his responses to the meds have stabilized him. He says he is feeling good today! Most of our family is here and is checking on us regularly. We are blessed! God's hand is upon all the details, we know. Thank you for your concerns and prayers. Darlene
Thank you so much for the prayers for dad. He has been in the hospital since Thursday after undergoing a heart catherization which resulted in significant blockage in four of his arteries. He will undergo bypass surgery on Tuesday and we are so grateful for the amazing medical staff at Healthpark and Lee Health. We will keep you posted of his progress once he comes out of surgery on Tuesday. Family has come in to be alongside mom as she cares for her beloved. She hasn’t left his side and their love is so evident as she goes through this with him each step of the way. 62 years for better or worse, in sickness and in health!
When your heart overflows with gratitude for all the kindnesses of the Lord and His people...
And you feel the most generous attitude... It seems the only way is to ask God to bundle blessings on all who love Him and are called His own
The people of God... Dan and I thank you... every moment and word of encouragement and prayer!!! How grateful for all your loving kindnesses!!!
May God's favor and blessings rest upon you all!! ~ dlb and my precious Pastor and Beloved husband, Dan... We thank God for you all!
Pastor is waiting final details for surgery following a heart cath yesterday, while physicians evaluate tests being given to assure successful results. We will update info as it is available. Rest assured Pastor is being well cared for and resting comfortably between visits from family members.
Just a little after 6 PM on Friday, July 13th, the surgeon came into the room and said he will do bypass surgery on Tuesday of next week. (Time TBA). Pastor will remain at Healthpark Hospital until surgery and recovery under the excellent team of healthcare professionals.
Every promise of God undergirds His child during such times of absolute trust in our Healing Jesus. We trust God’s hand as the Great Physician to give Dan a new heart thru His intervention! Thank you for all your prayers and messages which lift and encourage us!
We thank God for our caring family and the Pastors and staff and leadership of First Assembly who help carry the load of Christ’s Church daily.
